Travel especially for retirees

Travel Now  Travel Often

One of the saddest things people say when they are looking forward to retirement is:  “When I retire I’m going to travel.”

Do not wait until you retire to travel–or do anything else, for that matter.  Who knows what tomorrow may bring.  It is far better and easier to travel when you are in your  fifties, than when you are in your sixties or seventies.

After decades of being a solo traveler around the world, that big Six-Oh birthday arrived and I finally decided to travel with a group and have since taken two Road Scholars vacations.

Road Scholars specializes in educational travel for people over age 50.  One vacation I took was a photography workshop in Phoenix, the other a week-long adventure along the Oregon coast with my granddaughter.  Both were great!

The number and variety of travel and educational experiences Road Scholars offers is astounding.  Their costs are reasonable.  Not cheap, but reasonable. There are, of course, other companies who focus on travel for people over age 50.

Another group that specializes in travel to unusual or adventurous locations for people over age 50 is Eldertreks.  They will take you to see the Gorillas in Africa or travel along the Silk Road in Asia or dozens of other exotic locales. Being physically fit is important if you want to go on these types of adventures.

Earn money while traveling after retirement

Road Scholars hires people to work on their educational tours, but they are inundated with applicants.  We have some other ideas for you, if you are interested in jobs related to travel.
